A Well-Balanced Life

Therapy can help you manage your feelings and overcome issues.

What is Family Therapy?

Family reactions to THE FAMILY LIFE CYCLE and its crisis, vary and sometimes are very complex. Family therapy aims to support individuals and families through a form of therapy that involves the family members of the client.

Family therapy is a form of counseling which concentrates in treating family relationships and attachments/bonds. A licensed marriage and family therapist can work with individual members, as well as every combination of family relationship; couples, parents and children, siblings, grandparents, or the whole family. These sessions are dedicated to identify the actual resources every family member has and their unique way of interacting so that their existing strengths can materialize and the conflicts can be resolved.

The Human Experience

As human beings we are born into families; all our experiences and early encounters in life are through our family of origin. Our families give us the precious opportunity to rehearsal in a safe environment, all the social skills needed to face the world.

This is the place where we learn about ourselves and about the world,  this is then  the context within our identity is developed and who we are for others. We can learn about love, safety, security, recognition, relationships, intimacy, negotiation, reconciliation, to forgive and to be forgiven, among other important aspects of life.

In our families is where all our basic needs are met and we feel safe to face the world.

Our conflicts and problems, are formed also in the context of the family. As families progress in life, some special events start to develop within the family life cycle,  These family life cycles include:

As families approach these stages, some families as a whole  or its members, face important  challenges which sometimes can become stressful, and they are severe enough to develop certain symptoms such as anxiety, sleep problems, somatic complaints, depression, irritability, panic attacks, sexual difficulties, infidelity, domestic violence, divorce, separations, substance abuse, weight gain or loss, loss of hope, etc.
